1:1 Technology

The adoption of 1:1 technology programs at Corpus Christi High School has extended the learning environment from the physical constraints of our learning spaces to give our students the capability to collaborate, share information and experiences, work across disciplines and take control of their learning. Students and Learning Advisors, now have access to a range of tools which assist in making learning richer and more engaging.
Presently, there are various laptop programs to cater for students from Years 7 to 12 which are compulsory and a condition of enrolment.

The following provides information to the school community regarding the provision of 1:1 Learning Technologies for students from 2017. Our 1:1 Laptop Programs will continue for the duration of their agreements, with the school transitioning to BYODD (Bring Your Own Designated Device) Programs as these current agreements cease.

What is a BYODD Program?
BYODD Programs require that every student bring to school his or her own technology device as designated by the school ie the school will give parent/carers details and specifications of what is required. Further information will be made available to parent/carers as their child/children's year group prepare for transition. It is our intention that this information will be provided in a timely and comprehensive manner to enable families to budget and plan for BYODD purchases.

Year 12 - School Loan Program
Year 11 - BYODD - Students can use their existing laptop
Year 10 - BYODD - Students may return with their own laptop or purchase a school designated
Year 9 - 1:1 Laptop Program continues - Three Year program
Year 8 - 1:1 Laptop Program continues - Three Year program
Year 7 - BYODD - Students may purchase a school designated device (laptop) or use an existing laptop that meets the school's specifications

Options for Year 7, 9 and 11 2017
Option 1:Use an existing MacBook
Students can use an existing MacBook that the family already own, that meets the school's specifications. Some machines may need a replacement battery (Pros only) depending on the battery life, as students are not allowed to bring chargers to school. Please note that the manufacturers warranty on older machines may have expired.

Option 2: Self Funded
Purchase a new Apple MacBook model from any commercial retailer. Please be aware that the standard warranty is limited to only 12 months unless the AppleCare Protection Plan is purchased this will extend the warranty to a full three years (36 months).
* AppleCare is NOT insurance. The AppleCare Protection Plan provides expert telephone technical support and additional hardware service options from Apple.

Option 3: MAC 1
Purchase a MacBook through the Mac 1 School Portal. The School Portal price includes the AppleCare Protection Plan.

For all options
Please note that the carry case can be purchased through the School Portal. The school will image all machines to install all the required software.

The final decision on the best option for each child needs to be made by you the parents/carers, as you will have ownership of the machine.
