Our Learners
Our Approach
For Corpus Christi students to be “future-ready”, they need both broad and specialised knowledge, together with the capacity to think across the boundaries of subjects. That is why we encourage our students to look for integration within subjects right across the curriculum.
At Corpus Christi, learning and teaching is adaptive and dynamic, focusing on developing our students’ capabilities in areas such as team work and collaborative practices. Through co-operation and collaboration with others, our students harness existing knowledge to create new knowledge. We believe that for our students to be ready to participate successfully in life after school – whether than means further education, the workplace or everyday life – they must be problem-solvers, collaborators, self-managers, effective communicators and IT innovators.
We are committed to academic rigour and high expectations and focus on developing our students’ growth mindset, nurturing positive attitudes and giving them the confidence to seek constant improvement for themselves, pushing past their comfort zone. At Corpus Christi, we aim to be a school where everyone sees themselves as a learner and learning partnerships amongst the community are valued and celebrated.
Our Learners
We want to deepen and broaden students’ understanding of themselves and their world. To achieve this, we place a strong emphasis on developing authentic student and Learning Advisor relationships.
In Years Seven and Eight the curriculum focuses on developing Enduring Understandings, formed using an integration of curriculum content and cross-curriculum capabilities.
In Year Nine and Ten the focus shifts to specific key learning areas, including a choice of elective courses, with a continued emphasis on cross-curriculum capabilities.
In the Senior School students engage in a rich and stimulating program of study designed to complement their individual interests and strengths. A wide range of course choices are on offer, including vocational education, to support students developing a rigorous pattern of study. Senior students at Corpus also have access to HSC+ (HSC Plus Qualifications). This program gives Year 11 and 12 students the flexibility of studying up to three VET subjects, alongside Maths, English and Religious Education, tailored to meet the needs of the individual student.
Each of these stages are underpinned by our Learning and Teaching Principles.

Students are provided with additional support within the mainstream classroom. This support includes targeted literacy and numeracy support, adjustments to learning and teaching programs and adjustments to assessment.
Gifted Education

We offer cluster classes in each year group from 7-10, comprised of groups of like-minded students with gifts across a range of disciplines. We also offer mini-clusters within mainstream classes, wherein students are grouped together based on similar curriculum strengths.
