Our Future
Our Future: TaPP & VET
Corpus Christi is committed to maximising student learning outcomes and life opportunities by offering a range of experiences that enhance hope in our future. We have a number of support networks in place to assist students as they transition through school.
These include the Transition and Pathway Program(TaPP), Vocational Education and Training Courses delivered internally and externally (VET and EVET), Structured Workplace Learning (work experience), and School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs).
Our community has extensive links with Regional Industry Educational Partnership (RIEP), University of Wollongong, local businesses, TAFE and Workplace Learning Illawarra.
Students at Corpus Christi Catholic High School have the option to do HSC plus. This is a dual qualification that combines completing a Certificate 1 or 2 which equates to 1 year of a 4 year TAFE course with the Higher School Certificate. Staying at school allows students to study courses at external training providers such as TAFE in a familiar and supported environment.
Students in Year 7 and 10 will take part in a Transition and Pathway Program. These contemporary career education lessons are designed to equip young people for a constantly changing world of work.
Career education is the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes through a planned program of learning experiences to assist students to make well-informed decisions about future study and/or work options.
We want students to have the skills, knowledge and motivation to manage their own career pathways and to make informed choices when it comes to their future.
In addition to this program, students are invited to make Pathway Meetings with the Transition and Pathways Specialist, attend resume writing workshops, up-skill at school through white card and first aid training and have the opportunity to participate in many incursions and excursions that open up a world of possibilities.
